Why the Ecofan Original Continues to be a Wood Stove Fan-Favourite

The Ecofan Original wood stove fan has been spreading warmth since 1994.

The Ecofan Original – the one that started it all – and still in production at Caframo in Wiarton, Ontario, Canada. First invented in 1994, the Ecofan Original continues to warm customers year after year. Just place it on top of a wood stove, and as the stove heats up, the Ecofan's blades begin to spin, creating gentle air circulation. This helps to distribute the warm air throughout the room, improve the overall efficiency of the stove and reduce heating costs. Electricity is generated through the temperature difference known as the “Seebeck effect”.

The Ecofan Original is the perfect introductory model, great for room sizes up to 120 square feet and you can feel confident you’re paying for the quality of an authentic Ecofan.

Ecofan Original

Often imitated but never duplicated, our Ecofan Original remains a fan-favourite amongst those who heat with wood. It has inspired a lot of competition over the years, pushing us to improve, even though most of the competition does not surpass our Original’s performance metrics like airflow and fuel savings.

Working alongside the University of Waterloo to complete the Woodstove Comparative Testing to Determine Fuel Savings using a Thermoelectric Fan to Maintain Thermal Comfort. This proved that fuel savings are not the only advantage of using an Ecofan with wood stoves. An Ecofan creates a thermal environment that is more pleasant and comfortable. Further research and development determined that two blades vs. three result in less drag on the motor for better performance and longer life.

The Ecofan Original has an operating range of 230°F - 650°F (110°C - 345°C). Check out the Ecofan AirDeco I & II or the Ecofan BelAir if you heat with pellet, natural gas, or propane or have a stove with a lower surface temperature.

Ecofan Original

With a tested and proven CFM of 100 (170 m³/h), the Original can hold its own against any wood stove fan. It’s 8.5” (21.59cm) tall and made for maximum efficiency in rooms up to 120 square feet. If you have an inset stove, consider the Ecofan Original Mini! Heating with gas, pellets, or a low-temperature stove? Consider the BelAir or AirDeco models. Or, if you’re heating a larger space, the AirMax or AirDeco II.
